About D.I.V.A's

The History of D.I.V.A's

The dream of having an organization that catered to young women has always been a vision of CEO/Founder Tracey A. Mash; especially in 2003 while living in South Carolina, her 16-year old daughter became pregnant.  This almost devasted the family, but with love, patience and encouragement from family and friends, her daughter was able to continue school, graduate on time with her class and receive an academic scholarship for college.

Even with the support of family and friends, the one thing her daughter did not have was a reliable source to turn to when obstacles were presented to her (i.e. sex, drugs, alcohol, etc).  The same goes today, young ladies feel as though they don't have anyone to trust in and turn to when facing dilemmas and pressures of being a teenager.

Three years later while attending a charity benefit concert at her church that was raising money for the Pregnancy Care Center of San Antonio, Mrs. Mash was given a vision of how she could bring her dream to life.  It was revealed to her to do more than just bring donations for organizations like these, (which are indeed needed), but to take a different route.  We needed to reach out and help combat teen pregnancy which was becoming an epidemic in her city.

After the benefit concert a group of ladies got together and decided to work together to form an organization in order to do something about making a change. We all felt that if we could impact the lives of girls with wholesome values and examples, then maybe we could help decrease the city’s current status of having one of the highest teen pregnancy rates to possibly the city with the lowest teen pregnancy rates.

We understood that it would take a lot of work but we also knew that if we could join hands with the community this could be accomplished, and from that meeting D.I.V.A’s was formed.
